We are a credit broker, not a lender. We arrange finance; we do not provide it ourselves.
What we do
We arrange asset finance — hire purchase, finance lease, operating lease and refinance — for businesses, together with business loans, invoice finance and other commercial facilities where those suit you better.
We will discuss what you are trying to achieve, tell you which forms of finance are realistic, and approach the lenders most likely to support it. We present you with the options we obtain and explain the differences between them. The decision is yours.
We do not give advice on tax or accounting treatment. Speak to your accountant before choosing between structures.
Whose products we offer
We are an independent broker and work with a panel of more than 50 lenders. We are not tied to any one lender, and no lender has an ownership interest in us.
We do not necessarily approach every lender on the panel for every enquiry. We approach those whose criteria fit your business and the asset, because multiple applications can themselves count against you. You may ask us for a list of the lenders we approached on your behalf.
What you will pay
In most cases you pay us nothing directly. We are paid a commission by the lender that provides your finance, and the amount varies between lenders and between products.
Where a fee is payable by you — for example a documentation or arrangement fee on more complex cases — we will tell you the amount in writing before you commit to anything, and you will have the chance to withdraw.
The existence and the nature of any commission will be disclosed to you before you enter into an agreement, and you may ask us for the amount at any time. Where the commission we receive could vary depending on the terms you agree, we will say so.
[Confirm this section against your principal firm’s commission disclosure requirements before publishing.]
Your duty to give accurate information
The options we find depend on what you tell us. Please give complete and accurate information about the business, its trading history and any past credit difficulties. Telling us about a problem early almost always produces a better outcome than a lender finding it later.
If something goes wrong
If you are unhappy with any part of our service, tell us. Write to the Managing Director at 23 Bartlett Street, Caerphilly, CF83 1JS, email proposals@novoraassetfinance.co.uk, or call 0333 772 1558.
We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and, because we are an Appointed Representative, refer it to our principal firm, which is responsible for handling it. You will receive a final response within eight weeks.
If you are not satisfied with that response, or if eight weeks pass without one, eligible complainants may refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service at financial-ombudsman.org.uk, on 0800 023 4567, or at Exchange Tower, London, E14 9SR. Not every business customer is eligible; our final response will tell you whether you are.
Compensation
Most commercial lending and leasing is unregulated business, and is not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. Where a facility you take out through us is regulated, the position may differ, and we will tell you. More information is at fscs.org.uk.
Governing law
Our dealings with you, and any dispute arising from them, are governed by the law of England and Wales.
